I agree that the existence of the $seleceted$ should determine the type. And this isn't documented anywhere on this site but I can add a page to help clear this up.

You can select surroundwith from the right click menu. There is an option called "Surround With"

Commented Issue: SurroundsWith cannot be selected [5446]

Steps to reproduce:
1. So actually, I think that property should not be settable at all, and the snippet type if only determined by the existence of "$selected$" in the script. Is this actually documented somewhere? Anyway, I'm trying to find out how a SurroundsWith snippet is actually used, because the only way to use snippets that I know is type in the snippet shortcut. This cannot be at the same time while some other text is selected.

Commented Issue: Add Tab Size Adjustment [5449]

Tab size is not adjustable and seems to be set at 4. There is some complexity in this change since snippet can live in many different folder and changing the language won't always mean you want to change the folder.

Here are my thoughts of how to make this better:
1. If you have your snippet in one of the 'My Snippet' directories then automatically move it to the right folder.
2. If the snippet is not in a 'My Snippet' directory show a alert box notifying the user of a possible issue.

Does that make sense?

Commented Issue: Setting a Shortcut to "sw" wont work [5447]

If I create a Snippet and define the Shortcut to be "sw", Intellisense will suggest "switch" but won't display my Snippet.
Setting the Shortcut to "sm" instead will work.

I have the same Issue with the Shortcut "aw" -> Intellisense will suggest "await" and wont show my Snippet.
Setting the Shortcut to "am" will work.
Comments: RESOLVED

ok sorry I found the solution:

When I saved the Snipped, I set the Snippet Language to C++.
